EXPERIENCE

SECURITY CONSULTING

SUPER BOWL 50

How does the deployment of vast resources, security technology, and assets stay coordinated to help support the overall needs of one of the largest culture events on the globe while maintaining their individual missions?

Guidepost has an excellent record working with the NFL, stadiums, arenas, and facility managers for the past 20 years. In addition to providing operational readiness support to the NFL for the Super Bowl, Guidepost has been a part of the Levi’s Stadium team as the Security Technology consultant as Levi’s Stadium was built – knowing all along that this facility would be hosting the leagues premiere event in 2016. The task of coordination began years ago with the design of Levi’s Stadium. Guidepost Solutions assisted HNTB and the San Francisco 49ers to design the various security technologies, security command centers, and situation rooms for Levi’s Stadium.

In addition to the security overlay, the NFL is still responsible for “The Event” from NFL Control. NFL Control maintains overall situational awareness for the game and all of the activities surrounding the event. To achieve this level of situational awareness, the NFL relies on Guidepost Solutions to review the preparation of the various planning initiatives leading up to SB50 and deliver a Game Day Simulation exercise in advance of the game. The exercise validates planning, contingencies, communications, and decision making. The simulation engages all of the entities represented in NFL Control and practices handling problems that could occur with an event this size. In addition, given our knowledge of the planning, Guidepost supports the needs of the NFL on Super Bowl Sunday as the NFL Control pseudo “Operations & Contingency Manager”.

With the vast resources deployed for the event, the challenge is ensuring the NFL, Populous, and agencies represented within NFL Control, have the information they need when challenges present themselves. Guidepost works with the stadium, agencies, city, and federal resources to ensure NFL Control maintains overall situational awareness for the day.

Major events have a multitude of moving parts, solving for particular risks, and threats. Coordination is a considerable undertaking for any event or commercial entity. Working with organizations to define operational needs that support great decision making and communications ensures incidents do not become crisis. We are all judged by how well we solve incidents and ensure we proactively prevent those incidents in the future. Getting the right information to the right people at the right time is paramount to success in our experience.
