Senior Managing Director

As a Senior Managing Director in the San Francisco office of Guidepost Solutions, Stephanie Douglas, focuses on sensitive internal investigations, white collar crime investigations, intellectual property (IP) protection and national security matters impacting private companies. She works to educate executives relative to insider threats and crisis management issues. She has extensive experience in the management and oversight of both criminal and national security investigations and issues, domestic and global security operations and policy development. Ms. Douglas brings expertise in organizational change management, strategic planning, technology implementation, crisis management, physical security, and emergency planning to her role.

Ms. Douglas has a distiguished career in both the private and public sectors. She retired as a Senior Executive from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in 2013 where she oversaw the FBI’s national security operations around the globe.  Following her time in the FBI, Ms. Douglas was recruited by Pacific Gas & Electric to serve as its Senior Director of Corporate Security where she oversaw risk mitigation and issue response.

Ms. Douglas served in a variety of influential roles and as Executive Assistant Director of the National Security Branch, she directed all the FBI’s work related to domestic and international counter-terrorism, counterintelligence, weapons of mass destruction and intelligence matters. In this position, she represented the FBI in discussions of national security policy along with other U.S. Intelligence Community partners and National Security Staff. She oversaw the FBI’s role in providing intelligence and defining mitigations relative to CFIUS matters.  She also served as the FBI’s Chief Intelligence Officer.

Prior to the above position, Ms. Douglas served as the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s San Francisco Division for over three years. In this position, she led all investigative and administrative operations of the division including those focused on sensitive national security issues.

Ms. Douglas’s other FBI positions include those as Special Agent, then Supervisory Special Agent, where she ran special investigations and counter espionage operations, and she served as a FBI Inspector, managing high profile and politically sensitive investigations. During her tenure, she also served as the Deputy Assistant Director, Counterintelligence, and oversaw strategy and budget for the FBI’s counterintelligence resources.

Ms. Douglas continues to maintain excellent relationships in both the government and private sectors. She is often sought after for her invaluable insight and judgment and is sensitive to the needs of the business and provides sound practical advice. Ms. Douglas works with corporations today to identify risks, think through sensible and cost-efficient mitigations and engage leadership in making long term and productive corporate changes. She maintains a TS/SCI Clearance.
