John V. Philippi, Regional Vice President, is an expert in global corporate security with over 30 years of experience. His work at multinational organizations has focused on protecting firms from negligence liability through the development of best-practice policies and procedures, design of effective and efficient systems and operations, and detailed coordination of systematic implementation. He has experience developing comprehensive standards and organizational structure for security staffing, workplace violence, physical security countermeasures, kidnap preparedness, event security, close / executive protection, travel safety and security, and electronic security systems.
In his nine years as Global Head of Physical Security for the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), Mr. Philippi created a methodology for risk assessments and implemented automated models of risk identification and reduction. At HSBC, he was also responsible for the Asia Pacific region while based in Hyderabad India from 2010 – 2013, and also served as Head of the Middle East and Africa while based in Dubai, UAE from 2013-2016.
In his most recent position as Global Head of Physical Security for SAP, he was responsible for establishing the firm’s first global physical security organization, and built from scratch comprehensive standards and procedures, as well as a global organizational structure. He developed a security cost baseline in order to establish the new function, and created management information, key performance indicators, and globally consistent job descriptions.
Mr. Philippi is a security subject matter expert who has appeared in high-profile media interviews, presented at regional and national conferences and seminars, and has written articles, manuals, and other published works. He has also appeared as a security expert on national news outlets, and provided security expert testimony in a court of law.
