David Ray has more than 35 years of experience in the security industry including over 25 years in leadership roles. As Director of Security Design, he is responsible for identifying potential security weaknesses and developing effective mitigation measures. Mr. Ray specializes in conceptualizing and implementing systems to mitigate risk based on the objectives of owners and operators. Throughout a project’s lifecycle, he maintains ongoing communication with clients to help them understand risk factors and make informed decisions about their security options.
Mr. Ray’s specific areas of expertise include security and risk management, threat and risk assessments (TARA), physical and technical security design, system implementation, and project management for both new and existing security and fire systems. He has contributed to the design of security systems for more than 500 projects spanning a wide variety of vertical markets, building types and sectors including sporting venues, federal and local government, commercial, corporate, residential, academic, casinos, hospitality, and mixed-use facilities around the world.
Prior to joining Guidepost Solutions, Mr. Ray spent more than 17 years with a major international engineering firm. Earlier in his career, he was a service and project manager for a security and fire integration company and a law enforcement officer in Cherokee County, South Carolina, where he attained the rank of Detective.
Mr. Ray is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) through ASIS International and a certified firearms instructor through the National Rifle Association. He also holds credentials through the U.S. General Services Administration, Secured Worker Access Consortium and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He has Department of Defense secret clearance.
